WORKING WITH POOR COMMUNITIES – SYRIAN & TURKISH
We have made several visits to the old town in Antakya, where several thousand
Syrian refugees live, some of whom we meet after Friday Prayers.
It was a cold, wet week in January but we were met with nothing but kindness. The food was delicious!
The photo shows the bakery, beside a mosque where poor people (Turkish and Syrian) come for bread each Friday.
The bread-giving is a spontaneous expression of solidarity and caring. It is being extended with a little extra money from one of our local volunteers.
We were able to provide a little help to several households (Turkish and Syrian)
Food Baskets, Books in Turkish & Arabic for children, a few educational toys. All very modest.
