Launching a New Project to Support Teenage Syrian Refugees

Published by A Village in Syria on

We like to think of ourselves as a ‘virtual’ organisation, in that we have no office, paid staff or other overheads. Our main overheads are our website and charity check-out which receives donations and direct debit. It also helps us tabulate Gift Aid, which we apply for. So our housekeeping is very economical. Our supporters respect this and continue to put money in our collecting boxes and support us when we do events.

However, in reality, our base is the Canterbury area of Kent. We have worked on the Canterbury campus of the University of Kent for three years: photo exhibitions, collections & other events.

Firefly International are a Scottish Charity, specialising in creative teaching, including crafts, drama & trauma therapy. We are going to be working with Firefly International at Christ Church University, Canterbury. We are grateful to all who supported us, especially the students from Algeria.

We hope to set up a Student’s Association at Canterbury Christ Church soon.
